GCSE Spanish

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope this letter finds you well. We would like to share some resources and information with you to help you support your child in their Spanish revision over the Easter Holidays and going forward.

First of all, please note the Spanish GCSE dates below:

  • Speaking Exams – Wednesday 24th, Thursday 25th and Friday 26th April 2024 (students have already been told their date and time)
  • Listening and Reading Exams – Tuesday 4th June 2024
  • Writing Exam – Monday 10th June 2024

Platforms Available to Students

In order to aid vocabulary revision, we encourage students to use one LanguageGym. Here, they are able to search for vocabulary by tier and topic and complete a range of activities to recap and revise this vocabulary.

As well as this, students have access to Kerboodle, which provides a range of activities based on particular units. Students have used this in class, but a recap of how to login can be seen below:

  • Username – initial of first name, followed by surname. For example, John Smith, would be ‘jsmith’
  • Password – the same as their username for their initial login, unless this has been changed
  • Institution code – ‘je4’

Speaking and Writing

On Google Classroom, students will find a document titled Themes Preparation by Topic, in which they were asked to answer writing and speaking style questions. In order to revise for writing and speaking, students should complete this document, answering all questions with extended answers and use these to revise.

To further support students in their speaking revision, General Conversation style questions can be found online, such as the ones here. Students need to plan answers to these and learn them as well as practice answering them on the spot. Past Role Plays and Photo Cards can be found on the AQA website.

In order to revise for Writing, past papers can also be found on the AQA website. We are more than happy to mark these practice papers for our students. These can either be handed to us in person or emailed to us.

Listening and Reading

For Listening and Reading, past papers can also be found on the AQA website. Again, we are more than happy to mark these.

Easter Intervention

We will be holding two intervention sessions over the Easter Holidays, on Thursday 4th April and Thursday 11th April, both will be 12pm-2pm. Please encourage your child to attend these sessions as they are crucial in preparing for the speaking GCSE.

After School Intervention – Module 5

As we return after the Easter Holidays, Year 11 after school intervention for Spanish will resume on Thursday from 3:20pm – 4:20pm. We encourage all students to attend on a weekly basis.

If you have any further questions or need any further support, please do not hesitate to reach out to us using the below email addresses:
