Module 2 Expectations Update

Three students talking and smiling while walking towards the camera.

Dear Parents/Carers,

It is with great pleasure that I am writing to you at the end of such a positive and successful module, we wish you all as parents and our fantastic Strood community a happy half term break.

Each week I’ve written to you as part of our weekly bulletin which I hope you’ve found useful to keep updated with all goings on within the academy. We are so proud of our achievements so far this year and our pupils keep raising the bar set. This year we’ve also continued to share much information via our social media platforms, I hope this has been helpful and beneficial for you.

A reminder of our parent voice forum which has been rescheduled to Thursday 9th November starting at 6pm, full details are on our website. This event is becoming increasingly popular and it’s a pleasure to welcome so many of you to the academy. We look forward to seeing you there.

Moving into module 2 we want to ensure our pupils are fully prepared and explicitly aware of what is expected in the lead up to Christmas break. With the change of weather all pupils are required to have an appropriate coat for school, and full academy uniform worn correctly at all times. Below is a link to our uniform and equipment expectations which you have received previously, you can find this here. A reminder that hoodies are not allowed on school premises and will be confiscated if seen.

Below is a list displaying the minimum expectation of equipment required for pupils at Strood Academy to support their learning.

  • An appropriate school bag that can provide protection for a chromebook and A4 materials
  • A fully charged chromebook
  • Pupil timetable
  • All books required for lessons (checked the night before)
  • A pencil case containing a minimum of the following:
    • 2 black pens
    • 2 blue pens
    • 2 x red pen
    • 2 x pencils
    • Ruler
    • Rubber
    • Compass & Protractor
    • Scientific calculator (Yr 10 & Yr11)

Pupils not having the above essential items every day will have a detrimental impact on their ability to learn and disrupts learning for others in lessons, which is not something we as an academy can accept. We encourage pupils to prepare their bag the night before so they can ensure nothing is forgotten for the day ahead.

We continue to strive to improve our communications within the academy and your feedback is always welcome. To support this we have continued to provide parents/carers a weekly bulletin which shares all the relevant information with you. I hope you’ve found this useful and beneficial to keep updated of all information within the academy. To further streamline our communications we implemented direct communications to College pastoral offices, you can now use the telephone systems to direct your call to Trafalgar College, Victory College or Hercules College. This should ensure your phone call is answered promptly and matters dealt with in a timely manner. We also have implemented a direct email address for you to ensure you can contact the relevant College team directly, a reminder of the email addresses are below for you:

To further support our commitment to improving communications please can we ask that you update the academy with any changes to telephone numbers, home addresses and email addresses to ensure we can direct communications to the correct place.

A reminder that this academic year we will be communicating with parents/carers via the MCAS app, this will be used should we need to inform you of reward points, behaviour points and detentions where necessary. Unfortunately, we will no longer be sending text messages. Should you need any additional information or need to update your personal information please email info@stroodacademy.org

Thank you for your continued support in advance as we embark on this new academic year together.

Yours faithfully
Mr Jon Richardson | Principal
