Dear Parents/Carers,
Firstly, thank you for your continued support. This academic year we have continued to make positive strides forwards to achieving excellence at Strood Academy through Vision 2028.
Within this letter I wish to set out some key dates for your diary to support you with planning ahead:
End of academic year 2023/24
- Friday 19th July 2024 will be our final day of the academic year, this will be a shorter day and pupils will be dismissed at 1:30pm. We will notify the local bus companies. Should you wish for your child to remain on the academy site until 3:20pm please contact your child’s college team by Friday 10th July so we can plan accordingly.
- Pupils will follow a normal timetable during the final week of the module.
Start of academic year 2024/25
- The academy staff are having two INSET days, Thursday 29th August and Friday 30th August. The academy will not be open for pupils on these days.
- To support our transition into the new academic year we will have a staggered start, which is highlighted below:
- Pupils in Year 7, Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 will return to the academy on Monday 2nd September 2024 at 8:30am.
- Pupils in Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10 will return to the academy on Tuesday 3rd September 2024 at 8:30am.

- Please note that the academy will not be open for pupils on these days.
Term dates for academic year 2025/26
- Whilst we appreciate that the academic year 2025/26 is a long way off, we wish to highlight these key dates for you, they can be found here.
- Please pay reference to the INSET days which are taking place on the following days:
- Thursday 28th August 2025
- Friday 29th August 2025
- Monday 5th January 2026
- Friday 13th February 2026
- During the academic year 2025/26 the Easter holidays are different between Kent, Medway and Greenwich/Bexley. As the Leigh Academies Trust has academies in all three boroughs a consistent approach has been taken.
- Therefore the academy will break for Easter in 2026 on Friday 27th March 2026 and return on Monday 13th April 2026.
- Please be mindful that Kent and Medway term dates are slightly different and other local schools will break a week later on Friday 3rd April 2026 and return to school on Monday 20th April.
