Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the final weeks leading up to the GCSE examinations, we are continuing to offer
additional intervention sessions to help support your child’s preparation and maximise their
success.
We are running targeted sessions that will focus specifically on key skills required for the Reading,
Listening, and Writing exams. These sessions are a valuable opportunity for students to
consolidate their learning, receive focused support, and build confidence ahead of their
assessments.
The scheduled sessions are as follows:
Reading and Listening
Saturday 7th June, 10am-12pm
Location: MFL Department Are
Writing
Saturday 14th June, 10am-12pm
Location: MFL Department Area
Reading and Listening

Writing
Monday 16th June, 6pm-7pm

Attending these intervention sessions is extremely beneficial for students for several key reasons:
1. Targeted Support on Exam Skills
The sessions focus specifically on the skills students need for success in their GCSE
Reading, Listening, and Writing exams. This includes practicing exam-style questions,
reviewing common pitfalls, and developing techniques to manage time and stress in the
exam.
2. Personalised Guidance
With smaller groups and dedicated time, teachers can provide more tailored feedback and
address individual areas of difficulty, helping each student make meaningful progress.
3. Boosting Confidence
As exams approach, many students feel anxious or unsure about certain aspects of the
content or format. These sessions give them the chance to ask questions, clarify doubts,
and feel more prepared and confident.
4. Reinforcement of Key Content
Repetition and active practice are crucial for retention. These extra sessions allow students
to revisit important material, reinforce their understanding, and improve recall during the
actual exams.
5. Positive Study Habits
Taking part in extra sessions helps students stay motivated, structured, and focused,
encouraging productive revision habits outside of school hours.
We strongly encourage all Year 11 students to attend these sessions, as they are designed to
reinforce key exam strategies and address any areas of concern. Every bit of preparation makes a
difference, and we are committed to supporting your child every step of the way.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Géraldine Ahern | Head of MFL
