Dear Parents/Carers,
We are excited to announce an upcoming trial of Gemini Teens, a powerful AI tool, for our Year 9 students.
This initiative is designed to enhance their learning experience and prepare them for the future by
equipping them with essential AI literacy skills.
From Monday 2nd June (Module 6), all Year 9, 10 and 11 students will have access to Gemini Teens. This
marks the beginning of our full roll-out, following careful planning to ensure the tool is used effectively and
responsibly to support learning.
As part of this program, students will receive comprehensive lessons on:
● Responsible AI Use: Understanding ethical considerations, data privacy, and avoiding bias.
● Effective AI Application: Learning how to use Gemini Teens as a valuable tool for research, learning,
and creative projects.
● Critical Evaluation of AI Output: Developing the ability to assess the accuracy and reliability of
AI-generated information.
We believe that integrating AI into the curriculum, with proper guidance, will empower our students to
become confident and responsible digital citizens.
To ensure a safe and productive learning environment, we have updated our Academic Integrity Policy to
manage the use of Gemini Teens. These changes will take effect from Module 6 (M6). Clear guidelines are in
place, and consequences will be applied consistently in cases of misuse. Misuse includes, but is not limited
to, copy-and-paste and plagiarism, as these actions go against our expectations of academic integrity.
The updated sanctions are as follows for KS4:
● First Instance of Misuse: One-hour detention
● Second Instance of Misuse: Internal Exclusion Room (IER)
● Third Instance of Misuse: A full day in The Lodge, involving extended isolation and time for
reflection
We are committed to working with our students to ensure they understand and adhere to these guidelines.
We encourage you to discuss the responsible use of AI with your child at home and reinforce the
importance of ethical digital behaviour.
We are confident that this trial will provide our students with valuable skills and knowledge, preparing them
for a future where AI plays an increasingly significant role. We will keep you informed of the trial’s progress
and provide further information as needed.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Jamie Minshull | Assistant Principal
