Dear Parents/Carers,
RE: Year 11 Expectations evening – Tuesday 17th September 2024 (18:00 – 19:00)
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you and your child to year 11. The staff at Strood Academy are excited to embark on this journey together to ensure that your child has the best possible opportunity to be successful within their year 11 examination series.
In module 6 of the last academic year we saw an good attendance to our year 10 mock results evening. We thank those parents/carers that attended and hope that the information provided supported the pupils’ preparation over the summer holidays.
Throughout this academic year we will look to invite parents/carers into school more regularly to gain a deeper insight into what we are doing and what parents/carers can do to support the child’s development. Research shows that parental engagement has a significant impact on the progress made by a child. Research using data from the National Child Development Study (NCDS) to analyse the impact of parental engagement found that very high parental interest is associated with better exam results compared to children whose parents show no interest.
This evening will provide parents the opportunity to gain a clear understanding of how they can support your child’s development at home. Subject leaders will answer 3 core questions:
- What is the learning focus of this module?
- What are we doing to support your child?
- What can you do to support your child?
Plan for Mock Results Evening:
- 18.00-18.05 – Introduction
- 18.05-18.10 – 6th Form
- 18.10-18.20 – Year 11 Strategy
- 18.20-18.25 – Student speakers

- 18.30-18.35 – Maths
- 18.35 – 18.40 – English

We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 17th September from 18.00 – 19.00.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. Yours sincerely,
Mr S. Fatania | Assistant Principal
