RE: Year 10 Welcome to GCSEs evening – Tuesday 24th September 2024 (18:00 – 19:00)
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you and your child to year 10 and the start of the GCSE journey. The staff at Strood Academy are excited to embark on this journey together to ensure that your child has the best possible opportunity to be successful within their examination years.
This evening is planned to support you and your child’s understanding of what is coming up over the next few years. We plan to ensure the evening is informative and provides a solid foundation for strong parental engagement. This evening will provide parents the opportunity to gain a clear understanding of how they can support your child’s development at home as well as what we are doing within the academy.
Plan for Mock Results Evening:
- 18.00-18.05 – Introduction
- 18.05-18.10 – Future choices
- 18.10-18.20 – KS4 Strategy
- 18.20-18.25 – Student speakers
- 18.25-18.30 – Science
- 18.30-18.35 – Maths
- 18.35 – 18.40 – English
- 18.40 -19.00 – Questions and Dismissal
Research shows that parental engagement has a significant impact on the progress made by a child. Research using data from the National Child Development Study (NCDS) found that high levels of parental engagement is associated with better exam results.
Throughout the next 2 academic years we will look to invite parents/carers into school more regularly to gain a deeper insight into what we are doing and what parents/carers can do to support the child’s development.
If for any reason you are unable to attend we encourage all pupils to attend to ensure that they do not miss any key information regarding their GCSEs.
