Year 11 BTEC Music Performance

Strood Academy Letter image

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to inform you of an exciting opportunity for your child in the upcoming academic year. Strood Academy will be offering the BTEC Level 3 Music Performance course at our sixth form, designed for students with a passion for music and performance.

This course builds on the skills learned during the GCSE Music programme, where students explored composition, performance, listening, and appraising. You don’t however need to have taken GCSE Music to join this course, all students are more than welcome.

Students will engage with four units: Practical Music Theory and Harmony, Professional Practice in the Music Industry, Ensemble Music Performance, and Solo Music Performance. These units are designed to help improve their performance skills, provide insights into the music industry, and develop transferable skills useful in any career.

The BTEC Level 3 Music Performance course focuses on practical application and real-life scenarios, making the learning experience dynamic and relevant. Assessment is entirely based on coursework, including practical and written tasks, allowing students to showcase their abilities.

We still have spaces available for this exciting course. If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to reach out to Mrs Cadd, who will be glad to help.

On Tuesday 24th June, all year 11 students will get the chance to participate in a taster session for this course. This is a brilliant opportunity and will give the students a better understanding of what the course is all about.

Thank you for considering this opportunity for your child. We’re looking forward to supporting our students in developing their musical talents at Strood Academy.

Kind Regards,

Mrs L Cadd | Lead Teacher of Music
