Dear Parents and Carers,

‘ADHD Friendly School’ status

I am delighted to share some exciting news that reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire community at Strood Academy. This week we have received recognition from the ADHD Foundation and, after an extensive review period, we are proud to announce that we have achieved ‘ADHD Friendly School’ status. This prestigious award signifies our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all our pupils, and we are absolutely thrilled to share this achievement with you, and our wider community.

This recognition is not merely a title; it represents our unwavering dedication to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a supportive and nurturing setting. Vision 2028 is unpinned by 10 core foundations and our progress here celebrates that we continue to“take pride in our safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.” This award is a testament to our strategic approach to inclusion at Strood Academy.

Achieving this status has involved a rigorous and lengthy process of training for our academy staff, who have worked tirelessly to enhance their understanding and skills in supporting pupils with ADHD. This extensive training equips our staff with the knowledge and tools necessary to best support the diverse needs of our pupils. It is through these efforts that we can provide the very best support for our children and ensure they can fully engage with their education.

In addition to this recognition, I would like to highlight the invaluable resources we offer at Strood Academy through our Specialist Resource Provision, known as the Endeavour Centre. This provision is specifically designed to support pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) whose primary need is autism. The Endeavour Centre plays a critical role in providing additional support, helping these pupils access mainstream education while fostering their unique talents and capabilities. Achieving ‘ADHD Friendly School’ status further reinforces our commitment to all pupils within our inclusive environment, showcasing the exceptional support we aim to provide.

We are excited to share this news with you, and we believe that this recognition will not only enhance the educational experiences of our current pupils but also serve as a beacon of excellence for prospective pupils and families. Thank you for your continued support and belief in our vision at Strood Academy. Together, we are creating a community where every child can flourish and reach their full potential.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Jon Richardson | Principal
