Year 9 Safety Roadshow

Strood Academy Letter image

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am writing to inform you about an important event that we have arranged for our Year 9 students on Monday 18th November. We have secured the Kent Police to conduct an engaging and

informative safety roadshow for a select group of 90 Year 9 students.

The Kent Police Child Centred Team, in partnership with the Kent and Medway Violence Reduction Unit, will present an interactive session that covers various critical safety topics. These include knife crime, the PREVENT strategy, sexual health, and broader personal safety issues. The session aims to provide vital information and resources, as well as to highlight the support available for young people through local services.

We are delighted to announce that the roadshow will be hosted by Robbie White, a Kent-based celebrity known for his role in Netflix’s production of ‘Heartstopper’. Robbie’s relatability and presence will not only enhance the experience but also include musical interludes between the presentations, making it a lively and engaging morning for our students.

Attendance at this event will require your child to be excused from their normal timetable. Should your child be selected to participate in this valuable experience, we will notify them in advance. Furthermore, there is potential for an additional 90 students to view the presentation in the future, thereby extending the benefits of this initiative.

If you have any objections to your child attending the roadshow on 18th November, please do not hesitate to contact me at the email address provided below.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter. I believe this experience will prove

invaluable for our young people, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to navigate various safety concerns.

Kind regards,
Mr Michael Williams | Assistant Principal, michael.williams@stroodacademy.org
