Dear Parents/Carers,
Subject: Year 9 MYP Community Project Information
I am pleased to inform you that as part of the MYP curriculum, Year 9 students will be undertaking their Community Project during module 4 and 5. This initiative allows students to engage in meaningful action to support their community and will take place during their Wednesday afternoon Personal Development sessions.
Key Dates:
The action phase of the project will take place on the following dates:
- Wednesday, 26th March 2025
- Wednesday, 2nd April 2025
- Wednesday, 23rd April 2025
- Wednesday, 30th April 2025
During these sessions, students will actively contribute to a cause they have chosen to support. Most students will carry out their projects within the school environment. However, there is an exciting opportunity for 10 students to visit Bligh Primary School on these dates to assist younger children with their learning.
Bligh Primary School Opportunity:
Students selected for this initiative will receive training to ensure they are well-prepared for their role. They will leave Strood Academy at 1:00pm and walk in a small group to Bligh Primary School, where they will be registered upon arrival. They will then work in classrooms with the children from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. After the session, students may either be collected by a parent/guardian or make their own way home.

Please note that spaces are limited to 10 students and will be allocated based on their suitability as school representatives and the order in which forms are received. The deadline for submission is 14th March 2025.
