Year 11 Attendance

Dear Parents/Carers

As your child prepares for their upcoming GCSE exams, we at Strood Academy want to emphasise the critical role attendance plays in their success.

Missing just a few days of school can have a significant impact on their academic achievement. Research shows a clear link between high attendance and improved GCSE outcomes.

Here’s why attending school regularly is crucial for Year 11 students:

  • Continuity of Learning: Every lesson builds on the previous one. Missing classes creates gaps in understanding that can be difficult to bridge later.
  • Practice Makes Perfect: Regular attendance allows students to participate in class discussions, complete in-class activities, and receive valuable feedback from teachers.
  • Exam Preparation: Teachers often cover key exam content and strategies in class. Missing these sessions can put students at a disadvantage.
  • Developing Study Habits: Regular attendance helps students develop a consistent study routine and build the stamina needed for rigorous exams.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may sometimes arise. However, we strongly encourage you to prioritise your child’s attendance and work closely with the school to address any potential issues.

For your reference, you can find a detailed report on the link between attendance and GCSE outcomes on our school website: https://stroodacademy.org.uk/academy-life/attendance/

We are here to support your child’s success in every way possible. Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s tutor or the pastoral team if you have any questions or require assistance with ensuring their regular attendance.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday 3rd July for our Exam Information afternoon from 16.00 – 17.00.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

Yours faithfully

Mr S. Fatania | Assistant Principal
