Dear Year 10 Parents/Carers,

Re: Upcoming Year 10 Work Experience – 19th to 23rd May 2025

We are writing to update you regarding the rapidly approaching work experience week for our Year 10 students, scheduled to take place from Monday 19th May to Friday 23rd May 2025. We are genuinely excited about this valuable opportunity for your son/daughter to gain first-hand experience of the world of work and develop essential skills for their future endeavors.

We understand that you may have questions regarding the arrangements, and we want to assure you that we are taking all necessary steps to ensure your child has a safe and enriching experience.

The vast majority of our students have now received and returned their Work Experience Agreements, and we extend our sincere thanks for your prompt attention to this. For those students who are yet to receive their agreements, these will be issued as soon as possible, and we kindly request that you return the signed agreement on the day following its receipt.

These agreements clearly outline important details such as working hours, lunch arrangements, and the expected dress code, ensuring that students are fully informed before commencing their placement. Furthermore, we expect all students to proactively contact their assigned placement to introduce themselves to their designated contact person prior to the start of their work experience.

We firmly believe that this work experience will be an invaluable opportunity for our Year 10 students to cultivate their confidence, gain meaningful insights into diverse industries, and significantly enhance their employability skills. We deeply appreciate your support in encouraging your child to fully engage with this important process.

Students received their work experience log books on Wednesday 14th April, and have already begun working on them. These log books are essential and must be taken to their placements each day as they contain crucial emergency contact details in case any unforeseen issues arise. We kindly request that you review these log books together with your child and complete the emergency contact information and the parental agreement section.

Please be aware that any student who does not attend their allocated work experience placement will be required to attend school during that week. Their regular weekly lessons will not take place; instead, they will be based in the internal engagement room, working on tasks related to Unifrog, our online careers programme, throughout the week.

Should you have any questions or concerns at any point, please do not hesitate to contact me directly via email at michael.williams@stroodacademy.org. We will continue to provide further information and guidance as the work experience week draws nearer.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely,
Mr M Williams | Assistant Principal with responsibility for Careers Strood Academy
