Dear Year 10 Parents/Carers,

Re: Upcoming Year 10 Work Experience – 19th to 23rd May 2025

We are writing to update you regarding the upcoming work experience week for our Year 10 students, which will take place from Monday 19th May to Friday 23rd May 2025. We are very excited about this valuable opportunity for your son/daughter to gain first-hand experience of the world of work and develop essential skills for their future.

We understand that you may have questions about the arrangements, and we want to assure you that we are taking all necessary steps to ensure that your child has a safe and enjoyable experience.

Currently, we are working closely with Medway Education Business Partnership, our dedicated work experience company. They are diligently carrying out the crucial insurance and safety checks on all the placements that our students have successfully secured themselves. This thorough process is paramount in ensuring a secure environment for your child during their work experience.

For those students who were unable to secure their own placements, we are pleased to inform you that they are currently making preferential choices from a range of reputable work experience providers that we have secured. Following this selection process, we will be carefully placing students with these providers to ensure a suitable and beneficial experience for everyone.

Once all placements have been finalised and confirmed, we will be in touch with you individually to inform you of your son’s/daughter’s specific work experience placement details.

Following confirmation of the placement, it will be an important time for your child to prepare for their week in the workplace. This will involve several key tasks, including:

  • Organising Travel: Planning their route to and from their placement each day.
  • Learning About Daily Roles: Understanding the kind of tasks they will be involved in. Making sure that the correct dress code is being followed and understanding break and lunch time requirements.

Please also be aware that the working hours at their placement may differ from our school day timings.

We believe that this work experience will be an invaluable opportunity for our Year 10 students to develop their confidence, gain insights into different industries, and enhance their employability skills. We appreciate your support in encouraging your child to fully engage with this process.

Should you have any initial questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via email at michael.williams@stroodacademy.org. We will provide further information and guidance as the work experience week approaches.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Mr M Williams | Assistant Principal with responsibility for Careers, Strood Academy
