Dear Parents/Carers
We are delighted to inform you that this year’s sports day will be held on Tuesday 15th July 2025, all events will be held at the Academy, on the field, astro and courts. We are excited to finish the academic year on a high, celebrating students’ hard work and provide students with a positive sporting event to look forward to which encourages maximum participation and engagement from all students, with the addition this year of our final track races for the whole school to enjoy and watch creating a fantastic finale to our day. Year 12 students will be assisting with the running of these events which they will have signed up to during form time, they will be expected on site at 8.30am in the sixth form area.
All students at the Academy will rotate around the following activities, within their form tutor groups:
- End-Zone
- Football
- Rounders
- Tug of War
The students will operate on a carousel within their tutor groups and take turns on the various activities with regular rest breaks in between. Lunch will be between 12.00 – 12:40pm. The canteen will be providing a range of both hot and cold food options to purchase. Students can use the usual ParentPay card system for this.
Students will need to arrive at school wearing the correct PE kit;
- Strood Academy Logo Top
- Strood Academy shorts/joggers/leggings *(No cycling shorts)
- Students are not to wear any other brand or logo clothing
- Students must wear trainers
- No Jewellery
- Hair tied up
- Students can bring in college coloured face paint to apply and wear their college colour accessories such as headbands, sweatbands and socks!
Students are expected to leave all chromebook devices at home on Tuesday 15th July. This is to ensure no unnecessary damage is caused to these when bags are being left on the field during the different events that your child will be participating in.
In the event of participants not wearing the correct kit they will be provided with a PE kit from the department. Any pupil that fails to wear the correct kit will be placed within the Internal Engagement Room for the day. We appreciate your continued support on this matter.
In the unlikely case that Sports Day is cancelled due to extreme weather we will notify parents/carers the evening before and students will be expected to attend school with normal lessons being delivered. Thursday 17th July will be our back-up date should we find the need to cancel on Tuesday 15th.
As students will be outside for the day and moving around to different practical activities can we please ask that students refrain from bringing any valuables to school. Strood Academy cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage to valuables.
Students will need to ensure they are comfortable and come prepared. They will need to bring:
- A packed lunch (unless they are buying from the canteen. Students entitled to free school meals will be provided with this)
- Hat and sun cream
- A reusable water bottle
- Light rain Jacket
Students will need to arrive promptly and make their way to line up before they are escorted out to their first activity.
Unfortunately, due to safeguarding and limited space parents/carers will not be able to attend the event.
We are looking forward to an exciting day that engages all students, with participation for all. As with previous sports days, we know that students will not only perform brilliantly in the events, but also actively support and encourage their peers, demonstrating the ethos and spirit of Strood Academy.
Yours sincerely
The PE Department
