Dear Parents/Carers
Enhanced safety protocol at Strood Academy, Wednesday 4th October 2023 – Module 1 – 2023/24
At Strood Academy, we take safeguarding and safety very seriously. It is important that we continue to review all our procedures, taking into account even those events that are very unlikely to occur. As we made you aware in our letter on September 23rd, we have been planning to rehearse our onsite lockdown procedure. We have spoken to all pupils in assembly and tutor time about the reasons why we need to have this in place. We have emphasised the unlikeliness of this actually occurring, but, in the same way we practise fire drills, an ‘onsite lockdown’ practice is a necessary precaution.
We recognise we have many children with SEND and we have ensured they are fully aware of the process and have ensured we reduce any concerns or worries they may have.
I am writing to inform you that we successfully completed our lockdown procedure today (04/10/2023) at 1:30pm. Pupils engagement throughout was exemplary and our pupils have once again risen to our expectations as an academy. A reminder this is a Leigh Academies Trust expectation for all academies to practise this procedure during module 1.
If you or your child have any feedback, please do not hesitate to contact their college teams.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours faithfully
Mr Jon Richardson | Principal
