Dear Parents/Carers

I am writing to you to emphasise the importance of attending weekly English intervention sessions on Tuesdays as we approach the GCSE examinations this summer. Every session we deliver is designed to provide targeted support and revision strategies to help students achieve their full potential in English Literature and Language.

As you know, the GCSE English curriculum covers a significant amount of content, including a wide range of texts. Effective revision is crucial for students to consolidate their understanding, develop their analytical skills, and confidently approach the exams. These intervention sessions will provide a dedicated space and expert guidance to facilitate this process.

Due to the sheer volume of material to cover, particularly in Literature, these sessions will be treated as an extra lesson. This additional time will allow us to delve deeper into key texts, explore exam techniques, and address any individual areas of concern. We will focus on strengthening students’ knowledge of plot, character, themes, and language.

We strongly encourage all students to attend these valuable sessions. They offer an excellent opportunity to boost their confidence, refine their understanding, and maximise their chances of success in the upcoming GCSE exams. A consistent and focused approach to revision is essential, and these interventions will provide the structure and support needed to achieve this.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at annjulie.webster@stroodacademy.org if you have any questions or would like to discuss this further.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs A Webster
