Dear Parents/carers,
Subject: Chromebook Sleeve and minimum charge – Care for chromebook scheme
To best protect pupil’s chromebooks, it became compulsory for pupils to have a chromebook sleeve to give adequate protection. Whilst the majority of pupils have acceptable protection for their chromebooks, there are still a number of pupils that are using unacceptable covers that do not offer protection. There have been a number of avoidable incidents where chromebooks have suffered water damage or screens have been damaged. This is putting a huge strain on our spare chromebooks and in some cases this is causing disruption to learning.
The below links provide examples for you, but are not the only acceptable items, you are more than welcome to complete your own search for suitable items.
To clarify, this part of our uniform isn’t required to be branded with the Strood Academy logo, this is to reduce costs further for you:
There has also been an increased number of incidents where pupils have brought their chromebook in without charge or with a small amount of charge. It is imperative that pupils are at line-up and begin the day with a minimum of 90% charge. Pupils will not be able to charge their chromebooks at school. I have copied images from our uniform policy below, including the sanctions for the failure to comply with these expectations.
Uniform infringements will result in a 30 minute detention. If uniforms cannot be rectified, this will result in pupils being placed within the Internal Engagement Room for the duration of the academy day and dismissed at 4:20pm. Students will continue to receive their class work on their chromebooks.
We appreciate your understanding and support for this initiative. It is imperative that our pupils have the tools they need to excel and succeed.
