Following on from the letter during the April break, the majority of pupils have acceptable protection for their chromebooks, but unfortunately there are still a number of pupils that do not have acceptable protection. From the week beginning the 28th April, any pupil without adequate protection for their chromebook will be placed in IER. Please contact your college team if you require further assistance.
The below links provide examples for you, but are not the only acceptable items, you are more than welcome to complete your own search for suitable items.
To clarify, this part of our uniform isn’t required to be branded with the Strood Academy logo, this is to reduce costs further for you:
There has also been an increased number of incidents where pupils have brought their chromebook in without charge or with a small amount of charge. It is imperative that pupils are at line-up and begin the day with a minimum of 90% charge. Pupils will not be able to charge their chromebooks at school. If a pupil attends Strood Academy without their chromebook, this will result in a day in IER. If there is not an acceptable amount of charge, this will result in time in IER until the chromebook has sufficient charge.
If a chromebook is in repair, it is the pupils responsibility to collect a loan chromebook from our sixth form area before morning line up. We have invested in a number of loan chromebooks, and if there is an occasion where too many are in the IER and there is not a
loan chromebook available, a card will be issued to show that a loan was attempted. This is very rare and only happens if there are too many devices in repair. Pupils who do not have a chromebook at line up will be taken to IER until a member of the college team
can take them to collect a loan chromebook. A number of devices are being repaired currently with a cracked screen. This is avoidable damage, and all pupils will receive a sanction. In cases of accidental damage, we will ensure that this is investigated. If this damage has occured at home and you are aware of this, please do write a letter/note which is signed and dated. In all cases, parents and guardians will be called.
It is imperative that all pupils have access to lesson resources, home learning tasks and are prepared for learning at Strood Academy.
Many thanks,
