Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the warmer weather as we approach the end of another academic year.

On Thursday, 10th July, Strood Academy proudly hosted the Leigh Academies Trust annual awards evening, which serves to celebrate and recognise exceptional performance among staff.

We are immensely proud to inform you that four of our dedicated staff members were nominated for their outstanding contributions:

  • Mrs Ward for Excellence in SEND, whose commitment to supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities has made a significant impact on their educational journey.
  • Mrs Parish for TA of the Year, in recognition of her incredible support and guidance as a teaching assistant, consistently going above and beyond to enrich our students’ learning experiences.
  • Miss Light for Innovation of the Year, commended for her creativity and resourcefulness in enhancing communication through social media and engaging our parent and carer community effectively.
  • Mrs Phillips for the Lifetime Recognition Award, acknowledging over two decades of dedicated service and unwavering commitment to the Strood Academy community.

The achievements of these staff members not only reflect their exceptional dedication but also the strong ethos of our academy, where collaboration and commitment to excellence are at the heart of what we do. It is truly an honour to acknowledge such talented individuals who contribute to the nurturing and development of our young learners.

Moreover, I am delighted to share that during the awards evening, we celebrated two remarkable winners. Miss Light was awarded the title of Innovation of the Year for her exceptional work in utilising social media to enhance our communication strategies, fostering a stronger connection with parents, carers, and the wider community. In addition, Mrs Phillips has been recognised with the Lifetime Recognition Award, honouring her extensive service and dedication to our community, following her retirement in November 2024 after more than twenty years at Strood Academy. We consider ourselves fortunate to have such passionate and talented colleagues who work tirelessly to support our children each and every day.
