The Inspirational Learning Group visited Strood Academy on Thursday 28 March, as part of the National Enterprise Challenge. Working with 100 students from Years 9 and 10, they facilitated a task around increasing female participation in football. This is an area identified by the FA as requiring development. Working in teams under a project manager, the brief was to come up with a solution to this issue. During the day the key enterprise skills of leadership, communication, organisation, risk taking and problem solving were developed.
At the end of the day, each team had the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges, and 2 teams of 5 will now represent Strood Academy at Wembley in the National Final on 10th July 2019. But the day was not just about those who won, but about everyone taking part and developing their own skills in preparation for the world of work.
Some summed up their day as follows:
“It was a really fun way to learn”.
“I developed my teamwork skills by working with people I didn’t know”.
“I was nervous at first, but ended up presenting with my group in front of everyone”
“We can’t wait to be the reps for the Academy at Wembley”.
